COP15 Critical Run & Artistes de Garde
Between December 4-17th, Critical Run events will occur in conjunction with COP15.
Critical Run is a run where we debate while we run.
Critical Run is an embodied metaphor.
An absorbation of what we feel we should do in a world at the edge of an abyss.
But it is not a run away from the gulf to escape
But a run for solutions. [more]
The series is themed around the forgotten climate change debates, and is supplemented with a film about Critical Run, to be shown on the side of Copenhagen’s city hall on December 7th. As part of this corporate logo-laden event, Critical Run’s appropriate first question is “Are activists trapped in the communication machine of the sponsors? Should hope be a business?”, stating:
we would like to understand how we can debate about hope with or without promoting more cars , electronic industry , sugar for kids etc
More, in another example of artists leveraging galleries for interventionist strategies, Critical Run creator Thierry Geoffroy (aka Colonel) will join the Yes Men and others in headquartering their interventions out of Gallery Poulsen for the first part of Artistes de Garde. “The main issue is not to make soup but strategies,” as Geoffroy explains, and the process will include daily revisions of tactics.
