Nicole Garneau’s UPRISING and EVIDENCE

UPRISING #10, October 2008. Altar to revolutionary women outside Women & Children First bookstore, Chicago.Each month, Nicole Garneau stages site-specific performance works that broadly explore the practice of revolution. Titled UPRISING, the performances are “attempts at making the world in which we want to live,” “public demonstrations of the possibilities for a more loving, just and humane present and future.”

The first year of performances can be explored on Nicole’s website, and have been developed into a subscription-based project documenting the live performances.  Through a partnership with Links Hall, EVIDENCE catalogs each performance in postcard form, with photographs and accompanying text.
