Portrait of Silvia Elena

ScribeMedia.org brings us this excellent docu-short on the current exhibit Honeyspace, which raises awareness about the Juarez, Mexico, femicides:

Honeyspace is an unmarked, unguarded gallery in Chelsea.  Inside this atypical gallery, you’ll find only a note on the wall that suggests you visit the basement to view a collaborative installation by artists Swoon and Tennessee Jane Watson. The shrine they’ve erected is a memorial to 17-year-old Silvia Elena Rivera Morales of Juraez, Mexico, who was killed in 1995. She was one of the first victims of the decade-long onslaught of femicides, in which the authorities have been little to no help, and 500 women and girls have been confirmed killed.
