What Else Do You Read?

Groundswell occupies a unique niche of the blogosphere.  There are only a few other blogs out there covering similar topics, and I wonder what else you’re reading?  Do you spend more of your time reading about art & design, or activism?

I spend my time 50-50 between design and backgrounds of where we are working for. Although design is my first love, without knowing what we’re fighting for doesn’t make sense.
I always do a check online about the subject and the organisations when posting new work on my blog.
And the last year I spend more hours on networks like Facebook and Twitter to lurk and discuss.
Without content no design is my credo.

Based on my RSS reader I would say it’s 80% design and 20% activism, but a few of the blogs I read cross pollinate. One is the blog for design company Another Limited Rebellion, another is Thriving, and yet another is City of Sound. I also love Osocio and its predecessor Houtlust.

I agree with Marc. I look for topical content and information first, design resources second. Though to me, design resources are topical and helpful. It is my job to think and research these things as a designer. However, learning more about the “why” of design is almost always better than just learning design.

I spend a lot of time listening to my non-profit’s clients. Mostly group mailing lists like yahoo’s e-group and blogs.

@Marc:
Good point, and I’d suggest the Design21 network if you’re not already there. Thanks for your recommendations; I’ve really got to get on Twitter!

@Kimberly:
Looks like we’re frequenting the same places! I haven’t spent much time with City of Sound, and I’ll have to add it to the list. I noticed your blog has some great links, including Social Design Notes, which is a favorite of mine (albeit infrequently updated these days.)

hey james,

i think this should answer your question about what i’m reading:
