Dedicated to critical cultural production at the intersection of art and activism.

We cover artists from around the globe whose work explores and realizes social change. Our goal is to provide a narrative about these activist efforts while simultaneously participating in them. Maintained by The Groundswell Collective since 2007.

cause/affect

cause/affect is a very exciting design competition put on by AIGA San Francisco. The competition celebrates the work of “designers and organizations who set out to positively impact our society and communities.” From their website:

All work entered in the competition must promote or support social good and actively engage in enriching our lives. It can raise awareness about a cause or condition. It can celebrate an arts institution or event. All we ask is that it doesn’t contribute directly to the profit of a commercial organization.

This is a competition for do-gooders, who do good work. And it is open to all.

An entry fee of $30 applies (with some exceptions) and you can grab further details here. The deadline is November 9, and awards will be handed out in San Francisco on December 4.
