PARK(ing) Day 2007

PARK(ing) Day is an event conceived by REBAR, a San Francisco-based art collective, wherein parking lots are transformed into temporary public parks.  According to the website, it’s a “one-day, global event” where “artists, activists, and citizens collaborate” that has been growing since its inception in 2005.  Last year, the event was granted an endorsement by the Trust for Public Land.  You can get involved by staging your own takeover/reclamation with their handy how-to manual, or join theirs if you live in the Bay area. They encourage you to be lawful about it, of course…
