Pangea Day

Tolerance, compassion, and a massive display of unity through film – that is the goal of Pangea Day, an event scheduled for May 10, 2008 wherein sites in New York City, Rio, London, Dharamsala, Cairo, Jerusalem, and Kigali will be videoconferenced live to produce a 4-hour program of powerful films, visionary speakers, and uplifting music. The program will be broadcast live to the world through the Internet, television, digital cinemas, and mobile phones.

Pangea Day is a participatory experience; they are soliciting film makers to register at pangeaday.org. Upload your video on YouTube after you register, and join others showing their work on the Pangea Day channel.

In a world where people are often divided by borders, difference, and conflict, it’s easy to lose sight of what we all have in common. Pangea Day seeks to overcome that — to help people see themselves in others — through the power of film.
